Love: What the World Needs Now

As we all can attest to, there is a lot of stuff going on in our world that is hard on the emotions and at times difficult to mentally process.

Two of the unfortunate recent shootings had me in tears with sadness on a few levels which I won’t detail so as not to go on a different trail than what I am intending.

One was the shooting at University of Virginia and the other in the Walmart in Chesapeake, VA. One of the issues that I see from this (one because there are many more, but like I said, I am restraining myself from going on a different trail than intended), is that both of these shooters felt unloved, unwanted, uncared for by people in their realm of life.

They felt bullied, harassed or treated as less than. Please don’t get me wrong, I am not condoning their actions. But what I am suggesting is that maybe if people are better trained to treat all people like deserving human beings, like they matter, perhaps it would lessen some of the nonsensical violence that has been on the rise.

Just because someone is different, has mental challenges, looks or dresses in ways you don’t or are even kind of mean or difficult to get along with, if we could remember that they are a human person with feelings, with needs, deserving of dignity and treat them that way, with our words, our countenance, our conversations, or say nothing if you have nothing decent to say, perhaps we could make people feel cared for, wanted, respected.

From a Christian perspective, learning what love is and being it would make a difference to people in the world around you. Not fake love, real love… God is Love. If you know Him, show Him!

“What the world needs now is love sweet love! It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of. What the world needs now is love sweet love, and no not just for some but for everyone!”

Dionne Warwick sings it well, check it out:

Let’s lessen our selfishness our me focus and see the people in the world around us and love, not not just some but everyone! It could change someone’s life and save someone else’s!
